Hybrid Homeschooling Options with CambriLearn

Let's face it, not all of us feel comfortable scrolling through multiple teaching options and putting it all together to make a tailor-made learning experience for our child. If this is you, and you feel more comfortable having an "open up & go" curriculum all set out for you -  knowing that it covers all required subjects and you'll receive a report to account for work done - then you'll appreciate the lengths to which CambriLearn has gone to make it possible to still have an eclectic yet structured homeschooling experience.

For parents looking for a hybrid homeschooling platform, where you have the option to choose between live lessons, recorded lessons as well as lesson plans + text book style, CambriLearn is a great solution as curriculum provider. You have the option of being a completely "hands-on" homeschooling parent or if time or other limitations are a factor, your child can have a teacher, who is personally available to answer questions and give assistance when needed.

You have the choice. There isn't a prescriptive way you have to go about your child's education. This is why I am excited to have partnered with CambriLearn as a service provider. I am all for an eclectic homeschooling style which is so difficult to achieve using traditional teaching methods i.e. schooling at home instead of homeschooling. CambriLearn has, however, made great efforts to bridge the gap between the two thereby offering flexibility to parents who can still pick tailor-made learning solutions for their child.

They cater for both CAPS and the International British Curriculum (Cambridge) from Grade R -12 and will soon be including the American curriculum. You can "mix & match" according to your needs, being able to combine both curriculum as well as just focusing on only one subject. There are different packages to choose from as well as extracurricular courses. Watch an interview here for a good explanation of the pros and cons of online learning and how you can personalize it to suit your child's individual learning styles and needs.

So how does this all fit into foundation phase homeschooling?

I would not recommend placing a young child on a purely online platform. The foundation years need a lot of personal input until they are independent readers, which in turn leads to independent learners. There is no need to rush through this phase either or stress about mastery. Reading does take place, sooner or later. A good concept of numbers also happens at different rates with children. Depending on your child's abilities, you may feel you need a more structured, sequenced system to follow.  Sometimes it is according to their strengths so that you can just let them excel at their own pace. Other times, parents may feel that they'd prefer to have a set curriculum for something a child struggles with. Whichever option you take, combine it with a wide range of other learning experiences, both indoors & outdoors. Try to have a time every day where you read aloud to your child, have conversations about what is read, follow down "rabbit trails" of interests...and before you know it, you would have created a rich learning experience for your child.

If all this sounds like a good fit for you & your child, book a free consultation to discuss your options.
